by WingCommander ini came across this local guys photo albums on flickr while searching for someone i know.

This is all quite odd.
Earlier in the week, I was looking at a former colleagues pictures from his volleyball games along with his Christmas pictures. They were linked from his Facebook page. On a few of the shots there were comments from some guy. They were a bit puerile like, "You should have used this lens/shutter setting". I guess he was trying to be instructive. Anyway, I never did ask my friend if he knew who made the comments.
Time passes. Now I do my sporadic check of what's news on JWD. I read this topic. I'm interested so I check the link. Same guy. Wow.
Now to make it more interesting, I browse through his pictures to see why he thinks himself such a photo pro. The pictures are OK. But I see a few references to PA. The guy lived about 50 minutes from me growing up. His home congregation is Mount Joy, PA. I lived not far from there. Mount Joy is near Grantville where the Circuit Assemblies are (still) held. Also he has a few pictures from the Vet in '99 or so. I moved from PA before then. I didn't see anyone I remembered but it was interestingly serendipitous.
For the record, even my wife found his pictures a little leery. She also observed that he likes to photograph the ladies. One of them in his "Old scanned photo" section had a comment to the effect of "I liked this sister. I think if we exchanged contact information we'd be married by now." I kid you not. Kooky. It's sad that he seems to desperately want to be married.
Flickr seems ripe with JW picture postings. I'm going to satisfy my psuedo-voyeurism by looking at some more now.

nice to see lunacy practiced outside the confines of jehovah's clean organization.
there's some hardcore crazy going on there.. -- not outing it.

Did you still attend gatherings after you faded?
by truthseeker init's hard work pretending when you're doing the fade - it's even harder when for one reason or another, you make a decision to attend a "gathering".. i found i stopped looking at people as i used to and looked at them in a different light, new light - it can never be the same again..

I don't live in the area where I last attended meetings, so I don't get invited (thankfully) to local functions. I have attended a handful of meetings when family comes to town and the Memorial.
When I go back to my old town, I occaisionally see JWs from there. They are all very warm and friendly. I don't get the hard sell or a guilt trip.
If someone were to stick thier dogmatic views in my face, I'd stick my rejection of the same back at them and my reasons for such.
I'm very much live and let live.

Those Afferkins would only mess things up. I'm surprised "Mother" would allow them VT100s.

Did Your District Conventions Have A Meat Market?
by Jeremy C ini was recently thinking back upon some of my unusual memories of being in the organization.
one of them was of the dodger stadium "meat market".. we used to attend our district conventions at dodger stadium in los angeles.
for those of you who arent familiar with the stadium, dodger stadium has a very large level with blue seats - which is the largest level within the stadium.

I'm a vet statium veteran.
God I hated that place !
Awe gee whiz, what wasn't there to love about the Vet? Wait a second . . . . . Astroturf, the Philly Fanatic, a lot of guys with mullets . . . I take that back. I suppose a large singles area wasn't possible since all of the single brothers were too busy thinking about cheese steaks.
The Vet was a love/hate thing.
Loooooooove the sun dresses. Those must've been pretty big in the 90's.
Hate the heat. Do you guys remember how everyone would move to stay in the shade as the sun rolled around? It was like watching a human-powered sun dial.
I actually met a good friend who was employing the binocular dating method to meet some hot chicks from my hall. They were balsy -- actually came up and introduced themselves to the girls. I got to know him pretty well. Turned out we had a lot in common.
I think I fell in love with someone every summer. I was pretty shy so never made much of it.
// BTW, WTWizard: From a pigmentation standpoint, orange and blue make a brownish color. I'm not sure what's in your Crayola box.

MEPS was originally designed for use on IBM's OS/2 operating system
In the early days, when The Watchtower started to use computers for data processing, they chose to use IBM mainframes.
Does The Watchtower have a fixation on using IBM computer products?
I bet The Watchtower programmers even used IBM's PL/I language at one time!
No one was ever disfellowshipped for choosing IBM. (Modified IT cliché)
